How Many People Can Go on a Charter Fishing Trip?

The US Coast Guard allows a maximum of 6 passengers per boat. For larger groups of 6 or more, we are happy to coordinate a multi-boat trip with another charter captain — please call us for details!

Do I Need a Fishing License for a Charter Trip?

No personal fishing license is required — the boat's license covers all passengers aboard. Simply show up and enjoy your Carolina Beach charter fishing trip!

Do I Need to Tip the Mate? How Much Should I Tip?

Yes, it is customary to tip your charter mate. They work hard doing everything from rigging and baiting to cleaning the boat and getting everything ready for a great day of fishing. The standard tip is 20% or more of the charter price.

Can I Keep What I Catch? Is Fish Cleaning Available?

Yes! You can keep any fish within the legal limit. Our mate is happy to clean and bag your fresh catch for an additional charge, so you can take home your trophy fish ready to cook.

What Should I Bring on My Charter Fishing Trip?

We recommend weather-appropriate clothing (dressing in layers is best — the ride out can be chilly!), a waterproof jacket, hat, and sunglasses. Bring sunscreen with high SPF and apply any aerosol sunscreen before boarding. Wear comfortable non-slip shoes with good traction. Bring cash for tips, fish cleaning, and extras. Pack any snacks or beverages you’d like — alcoholic beverages are welcome for guests 21+ (cans only, no glass please). A cooler 45 quarts or under is welcome. If you’re prone to seasickness, consider Dramamine, Bonine, or Sea-Band acupuncture bands. Bring a camera or smartphone in a waterproof case to capture the memories!

Do I Need to Bring Safety Equipment, Bait, or Tackle?

No need to worry — the FoxSea Lady is equipped with all safety gear required by the US Coast Guard. All bait, tackle, ice, and fishing gear is provided. Just show up and you’re ready to fish!

What Should I Wear on a Fishing Charter?

Be sure to check the weather forecast on the day of your trip. We recommend dressing in layers as the ride out can be chilly, particularly in the morning. Rain gear may be helpful if rain is in the forecast. Sunglasses, hats, or visors are often helpful for sun protection. We also recommend non-slip shoes such as boat shoes or sneakers for safety on the deck.

What Is the Cancellation Policy for Charter Fishing Trips?

We understand that life happens and we do our best to accommodate our guests. We ask that you kindly provide 72 hours notice if you need to cancel or reschedule. A $200 deposit is required to reserve your trip, and if sufficient notice is not given, we reserve the right to retain the deposit. If the Captain cancels due to unsafe weather or ocean conditions, the trip will be rescheduled or your deposit refunded.
